Keep a Western Entrance to Oxford Station

Network Rail promised a western entrance for Oxford Station as part of the building work. That new entrance has not yet been built.

However, a temporary accessible access point was created. This has allowed passengers direct access to and from platform 4. Passengers from London have not needed to cross the footbridge, exit on east side of the station and then walk back to the west.

The soon to be nationalised GWR, the current operators of the station, have announced that they will close the western access point once the Botley Road reopens at the end of August. This is a short-sighted measure and will cause inconvenience for many either living or working on the west side of the station.

This petition asks Network Rail, GB Railways and GWR plus the department of transport to ensure the current access point remains in use until replaced by a permanent new entrance on the west side of the station.

Keep a Western Entrance to Oxford Station

I/We the undersigned call on Network Rail, GB Railways, GWR, and the Department for Transport to keep the current station access open until a new permanent entrance is available on the west side of the station.
