Theo Jupp first moved to Oxford East in 2019. A former Temple Cowley resident who now lives just off The Plain, he has previously represented the Liberal Democrats in Littlemore, Cowley and St Mary’s.
Theo is a proud dual national of France and the UK and speaks three languages fluently and a fourth conversationally. He is appalled by the Labour Party's capitulation to the Tories on Brexit, its use of the language of austerity to justify maintaining cruel Conservative policies like the two-child benefit cap, and its leadership's increasing willingness to adopt harmful rhetoric around migrants and LGBT+ people.
As a young adult, Theo has first-hand knowledge of the immense damage wrought on his generation by the pandemic and the cost-of-living crisis. Theo takes especial interest in the crisis in mental health in adults under the age of 30, who make up 30% of Oxford's population. He recently briefed an MP on the subject.
Theo strongly endorses the Lib Dem commitment to build 380,000 homes per year, views investment into nuclear power as an environmental necessity, and welcomes East-West Rail, the proposed Oxford-Witney railway, and the reopening of the Cowley Branch Line to passenger traffic.
