Fix Green Lane

Residents in Yarnton have been calling for an easy and accessible footpath to Kidlington for years. By fixing and improving Green Lane local people of all ages will benefit. Children in Yarnton will be able to easily walk or cycle to school in Kidlington, residents can get to work, or access local shops and services in Kidlington without a car.

For decades, Green Lane has been allowed to deteriorate into an unusable state—despite being a designated route to school. This is unacceptable and undermines Oxfordshire County Council’s commitment to safe, connected and sustainable active travel.

We therefore call on Oxfordshire County Council to take urgent action to restore and upgrade Green Lane as a safe, accessible and continuous walking and cycling route—fit for its role as a designated route to school, maintaining the wonderful tree canopy, and capable of serving as a key active travel connection between Yarnton, Kidlington and Begbroke. This must include a suitable all?weather surface, inclusive access for all users, appropriate lighting, and clear signage—bringing the route up to a standard that is safe, reliable and consistent with the county’s stated active travel commitments.
