MP Freddie van Mierlo Attends Local Climate Lobby in Support of National “Act Now, Change Forever” Campaign

Freddie van Mierlo, MP for Henley and Thame met with local residents and environmental campaigners in Sonning Common on Thursday morning as part of a community-led climate lobby supporting the national Act Now, Change Forever campaign, coordinated by The Climate Coalition.
The event followed the Mass Lobby of Parliament on 9 July, where more than 5,000 constituents from across the UK came to Westminster to advocate for stronger action on climate change and nature restoration.
The local lobby aimed to continue that national conversation at a community level, highlighting local concerns and showcasing grassroots initiatives focused on sustainability, biodiversity, and long-term resilience.
Attendees spoke about the need for practical, ambitious climate policies, and shared examples of local projects already making a difference.
Freddie van Mierlo MP said:
“Grassroots engagement like this is vital to keeping climate and nature at the top of the political agenda. The Mass Lobby in Westminster was a strong reminder of just how much this matters to people across the country, and this event in Sonning Common showed that our local communities are no exception. I’m grateful to everyone who took the time to share their ideas, and I remain committed to working together to deliver meaningful, lasting action.”
