Cleaning up our rivers

Layla Moran has campaigned for our waterways to be cleaned up and for the Government to hold the water companies to account.

She backed stronger measures in Parliament than the Government’s weak proposals.

Layla has met Thames Water several times to press for investment in water treatment plants in Oxfordshire. She also won a parliamentary debate on Bathing Water Status for Port Meadow, which was successful.

Layla joined her Lib Dem colleagues in Parliament for a toughening up of the rules. This will mean that water companies will not get any further state funding unless they commit to cleaning up their act with clear targets and timetable.
