Didcot to Farringdon Road Upgrades
The A417 between Faringdon, Stanford in the Vale, Wantage, The Hendreds, and Didcot has become increasingly congested. With narrow road sections and no dedicated space for cyclists, road users experience delays and safety risks every There is no single solution to getting the A417 moving. This is why Olly Glover MP and local Liberal Democrats are calling a package of measures and improvements to make things better.
Local MP Olly Glover said: “We need a main route connecting our largest communities fit for the growing population."
Olly Glover MP and the Liberal Democrats are calling for…
- Road repairs and a proactive, preventative maintenance programme
- Public transport improvements, particularly making the Wantage – Stanford – Faringdon bus service half-hourly during the day, and an hourly service in late evenings and on Sundays.
- An express bus service between Wantage and Didcot, to make the journey time competitive with driving.
- Junction improvements, particularly in East Hendred.
- A continuous, high-quality, well-designed cycle path along the length of the route, which will benefit both cyclists and car drivers.
Olly Glover is also welcomes other ideas and suggestions for things the Liberal Democrat team should be asking for on the road.

The hundreds of people who rely on the A417 to get to work or carry out daily life deserve a road that's safe and fit for use.
